    Lavender
    lavendula officinalis

This well known, feminine aroma is obtained by steam distillation of the flowers. Lavender has been cultivated since early times as much for its delicate perfume as for its medicinal properties. Lavender is the oil most associated with helping with skin irritations because it stimulates the cells of the injured skin, insect bites and burns. Occasional non-tension headaches also respond extremely well to lavender because of its soothing actions on the nervous system. In pregnancy, it is a welcomed, safe and gentle remedy when used in inhalation to treat morning sickness.

    Lemon
    citrus limonum

The familiar essence of lemon conjures up images of cleanliness and freshness. The oil is obtained by expression from the outer part of the fresh peel. As a very powerful natural stimulant, lemon is exceptionally effective in the diffuser to reduce the effects of occasional mental fatigue and listlessness, while regulating the body's natural immune system and resistance levels. The qualities of lemon make it a natural alternative to synthetic household cleansers as it effectively purifies stale air, kills bacteria and freshens almost any atmosphere. In steam facials, it is helpful for non-cystic acne and congested oily skin.

    Peppermint
    mentha piperita

The penetrating essence of Peppermint is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves and flowers of the herb. This oil is both cooling and refreshing on the skin and extremely versatile for home use. When used in a diffuser, its head clearing aroma is stimulating and helps to overcome occasional fatigue. A well-know digestive aid, Peppermint helps with upset stomach when used in inhalation. Tea Tree

    Melalcuca Alternifolia

    Guarded
    as compared to Thieves Oil

Legend has it that, during the Bubonic Plague in Europe, certain folks would rob those who had died from the plague. However, the robbers never actually caught the disease themselves, since they knew they wouldn't get sick if they rubbed different spices, oils and vinegars on themselves for protection.

New Sun's modern-day version of this oil is simply a blend of several essential oils that are known for their anti-infectious, antibacterial, antiseptic, antiviral and immune stimulating properties.

Ingredients: Clove Bud (Eugenia Caryophyllata), Lemon (Citrus Limon), Eucalyptus radiata 9 E. radiata), Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia), Ravensara (R. aromatica), Rosemary ( Rosemarianus officinalis. 15 ml (1/2 oz)

    Pain Oil 15 ml (1/2oz.)
    (Warming)

A blend to help reduce minor pain not associated with a disease or serious condition when applied topically to most areas of the body. Creates heat; especially beneficial in soothing sore muscles, achy joints, and stiff/sore neck. Helps support healthy circulation.

    Clove Bud
    eugenia caryophyllata

Cloves have been cultivated for at least 2,000 years. They were an important part of the spice trade and were highly valued for their medicinal properties. The essential oil is steam distilled from the flower buds, the part used for cooking, and produces the familiar sharp, spicy, fruity scent.

Clove is a warming, stimulating oil. It has the ability to soothe and numb the pain of a toothache and also can numb other minor pain not associated with a disease or serious condition, such as sore muscles due to over exercise, when it's well diluted in a carrier oil and rubbed on the painful area. Sucking on a Clove bud can help temporarily reduce the desire to smoke. Using Clove as a room spray helps repel insects but also imparts a sense of warmth and helps to lift despondent feelings.

    Eucalyptus
    eucalyptus citriodora

This Australian native is an extremely versatile oil that cools and refreshes the body during the hot summer months and builds the immune system, protecting it from cold during the winter. The spicy, haunting aroma is familiar to most because it is widely used as incense in the church during religious celebrations. Prized by the ancient Egyptians, use of this oil for both spiritual and physical applications have been well documented for over 4,000 years.

When used in skin care, Frankincense has a toning effect that is especially beneficial for mature or dry skin types. Its earthy, grounding aroma enhances focus and concentration during meditation when used in the diffuser. Both calming and uplifting Frankincense is also very effective at relieving stress and tension of a physical or mental nature.

    Lemongrass
    cymbopogon citratus

Lemongrass is similar to lemon with its refreshing properties but it is more warming. It has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine and is widely used in both soap and perfume for its fresh scent. The essential oil is steam distilled from chopped lemongrass.

Lemongrass is often used as a cooking spice in Asian cooking spice and is a positive influence on the digestive system. It can stimulate a poor appetite and help with digestion. Its properties make it an excellent household cleanser and with its deodorizing abilities, it makes a great footbath. When added to a lotion, it is also an effective insect repellant that won't clog pores or congest the skin.
